A new Forza
game and Crytek’s hack-and-slash Kinect title, Ryse
, are said to be two of Microsoft’s planned next-gen Xbox launch titles. According to The Verge
, Crytek and Microsoft Studios have been rewriting Ryse to take advantage of the capabilities of the next generation console.
The game was initially revealed at E3 2011, but there have been no announcements outside of confirmation that development is ongoing. There have been rumblings that the next Xbox will feature an evolved form of Kinect, so it comes as no surprised that Microsoft would want to show off exactly what the system is capable of.
Likewise, it is no surprise that a Forza title would be part of Microsoft’s plans considering how integral the series has been over the last number of years. With Sony revealing an exclusive driving title, Microsoft needs to be able to match it. Also rumoured is a zombie game and a family game set on an island with Pixar movie-style graphics. The family game is reported to also take advantage of Kinect to scan a player and generate an in-game avatar.
Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed anything regarding the next generation, but it is thought that it may reveal its new console at a special event to be held in May ahead of a full unveiling in June at E3. The battle of the next generation could be hotting up.
