Valve’s Source Filmmaker
tool is now available to all on Steam
and the internet has put it to good use already. The tool has been used by Valve to create much of its promotional material for titles such as Team Fortress 2
, but now the community has its chance to put it through its paces. The results so far are a mix of the sublime and the ridiculous, and some just have to be seen to be believed.Just One More Hat
If Disney wanted to piece together a musical number for Team Fortress 2, this would probably be the result. The video took over 15 hours to animate and lip sync, never mind picking out the shots and writing the song. Plenty of work went into the project, but it certainly paid off.Stop Meeting the Heavy
The Heavy Weapons Guy isn’t someone that you want to mess with, but some people just like pushing their luck. It uses a lot of the source material provided by Valve, but that is the best way to learn sometimes.Batman?
There’s no easy way to write a summary for this clip…It’s insane. Actually, on second thought, that was quite easy after all.I Have To Sneeze
If you aren’t comfortable appearing on camera, but want to stand out from other tutorial videos, why not use a Team Fortress 2 stand-in. Just be careful that they aren’t feeling the effects of allergies.Mugged
The thinking man’s solution to being mugged.Meet the Family
It was made with the old (leaked) version of the Source Filmmaker, but if someone can create this with an unofficial version that hasn’t been tailored for the general public to use, imagine what you could do with a more polished tool.Does he look like a bitch?
Ah Samuel L. Jackson…What a piece of dialogue!
