Limbo's spiritual successor gets backing
Danish Film Institute pledges £1,000,000 to bring project to light.
The Danish Film Institute has announced that it has donated £1,000,000 to fund Play Dead’s second major project called Project 2. Unsurprisingly, this is a working title. Play Dead’s first major release was Limbo, and Project 2 looks like it will maintain some of that tone and feel. The game will feature unique puzzles and changing scenarios as one boy struggles against evil forces who are trying to take over the world with a spot of experimentation on humans on the side. The game will be in colour and set in a 3D environment although the gameplay will take place as a 2D platformer.

It is estimated that Project 2 will be completed in 2014. It is more of a spiritual successor to Limbo than an actual sequel. At present the title is to be released on PC, Mac, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but we could see more formats added or next-gen platforms added down the line.
