Part of Nintendo's vision for the 3DS is the digital distribution of first party titles from day one, but the programme seems to have got off to something of a sluggish start with only 5% of all New Super Mario Bros. 2 purchases in Japan made digitally.
Released on July 28th in Japan, New Super Mario Bros. 2 has been enjoying rave reviews with Japanese gaming bible Famitsu awarding it 36 out of 40. Sales have also been spectacular, but with only 5% of them coming digitally, Nintendo must be feeling a little disappointed. Not so says Ninty president Satoru Iwata:
"This initial offering going forward, we've gotten a good reaction going," he revealed.
In slightly better news for the Big N, Brain Age sequel Demon Training was also released digitally alongside retail and 20% of its sales came from downloads.
