Buy on PC, get Mac version free.
SimCity will be released on Mac on June 11th via EA’s Origin platform, and the company announced that those who have previously bought SimCity on PC, either as a physical or digital copy, will receive the Mac version for free. Both the PC and Mac versions will utilise the same servers, which may strike fear into the hearts of those who had trouble at launch, but it means that players can play together across both platforms and can continue their cities from where they left off on either platform.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Maxis Label, Lucy Bradshaw, spoke about the Mac release and explained, “We didn’t want to make any compromises when it came to the Mac so we created a native version that is optimized for the hardware and OSX.”

The title has sold more than 1.3 million copies on PC since its launch in March. The title has been well-and-truly bug tested since and Mac owners will get the chance to build the city or region of their dreams on June 11th.
