The fourth annual Summer of Arcade is to launch on Xbox Live on 20 July, 2011. Microsoft has unveiled the five downloadable titles that will take to the spotlight over the course of the five weeks. At E3, a compilation trailer was released showing the five titles in action. Toy Soldiers: Cold War, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Fruit Ninja Kinect, Bastion and From Dust will make up this year’s Summer of Arcade.
Toy Soldiers: Cold War
Toy Soldiers: Cold War takes place in the 80s as toy soldiers, planes, tanks and more go head to head against the red menace. Once again, players will need to set up defences strategically and jump directly into the hot seat to defend waves of attacks. Cold War adds to the basic formula with a range of minigames along with the option of playing a campaign co-operatively.
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet
This side-scrolling, 2-D, action-adventure game takes players on a journey through the curious Shadow Planet worlds, unique environments filled with twisted life, surreal ecologies, hostile creatures and environmental hazards. Players explore the depths of several interconnected themed areas, fighting swarms of enemies, battling bosses, solving mind-bending puzzles and acquiring power-ups to unlock new parts of the map.
Fruit Ninja Kinect
Fruit may be good for you, but you are not good for it in Fruit Ninja Kinect. The player will be put in game with their arms representing the blades. Enjoy hack and slash combat as it has never been seen before.
Bastion is an action role-playing experience that looks to redefine storytelling in games, with a reactive narrator who marks your every move. Players will venture through more than 40 environments to discover the secrets of the Calamity, a surreal catastrophe that shattered the world to pieces.
