could be gearing up to announce a Super Slim PlayStation 3
model according to documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC). The model is branded as a 4000 series, which is worth bearing in mind considering we are currently playing on the 3000 series.
(August 15-19) approaching next month, it could be the perfect time to announce this new model ahead of a potential holiday period release. The lack of announcements at E3
this year regarding the next generation of consoles left many disappointed, but this could tide some over for now or at least explain why Sony did not mention future developments. Instead, Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida, hinted at the possibility of a Super Slim console when he simply responded, “Never say never.”
All that can be gleamed from the filings at the moment is an approximation of size along with a newly repositioned label. Sony filed for short-term confidentiality on certain attachments including external photos, internal photos, test setup photos and test setup configurations, and the user manual. Well, that’s our fun spoiled. Guess we’ll have to wait until Gamescom to see what Sony has in store.
