Gamers on different platforms will not experience the third instalment of The Walking Dead at the same time according to Telltale Games. Episode 3: Long Road Ahead will be released in mid-August, but the developer is not announcing an exact date. However, Telltale Games did release a blog post which explained that “we and our partners will do all that we can to release all platforms and regions as close together as possible.”
There was a week long delay between the release of Episode 2 on Xbox and PlayStation 3. While delays are to be expected on occasion, fans were left unhappy at the lack of communication from the developers. Telltale Games has stressed that it is striving to bring out releases simultaneously and will keep players in the loop. It wrote, “We’ve been working closely with our phenomenally supportive partners to try to make this a reality. We will continue to work on this and furthermore, we will strive to improve our communication with you so that you know what’s happening. Please rest assured that we are doing all we can to get your game episodes to you as quickly as possible.”
Telltale Games also added that the response to the previous episodes has been incredible and that the team appreciates the support. The first two episodes are now available on Xbox, PlayStation 3 and PC and pit players in the same environment as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic book series. where the undead walk the earth. Five episodes are planned in total over the next few months with choices in each episode affecting how the game plays out.
