Model Aoife Cogan is ditching tradition for her wedding today — as she is set to have two bridesmen follow her down the aisle!
Aoife (27) and Leinster rugby star Gordon D'Arcy (32) will tie the knot in Monaghan today and she has decided to put together an unusual wedding party.
She said: "My sister Sinead is going to be bridesmaid and my brother Niall and my cousin Dara are going to be bridesmen. It's something different and it should make the first dance interesting.
"I also got creative when it came to the whole theme of the day. I'm quite artistic so I put my own little twist on things, which I really enjoyed doing."
Aoife has not been stressed in the run-up to her big day and the couple planned a lot of the details of the wedding together.
And she will wear her godmother's ring which has a blue stone in it as a tribute to Gordon's team colours.
The former Miss Ireland winner said: "I'm going to be wearing my late godmother's ring as it has a blue stone in it. She passed away last year but she had a good innings. She was 101 and had an amazing life.
"I can't wait. I'm just really excited and busy getting some last-minute bits and bobs together. It has kind of flown in.
"I'm not stressed at all. I have been quite laid-back and relaxed about it. I have been really organised the whole way up to it and with Gordon going away to new Zealand last month, I had to be extra-organised.
"It was definitely a joint effort — we planned a lot of it together."
Gordon's Leinster teammate Brian O'Driscoll and his actress wife Amy Huberman are expected to attend the wedding, alongside rugby stars Rob Kearney and Ronan O'Gara, and models Ruth Griffin and Sarah McGovern.
The wedding will take place at Monaghan Cathedral and a reception will be held afterwards for the 250 guests at Castle Leslie.
Aoife said: "I haven't even looked at the [weather] forecast. I really don't care if it rains. It's Ireland so you just can't predict it."
