Newly married Daithi O Se
has admitted hosting the Rose of Tralee
is the only reason he got away with discussing “other women” while in bed with his wife yesterday.
The 36-year-old Kerryman met the 32 ladies competing for the crown at RTE studios yesterday — just weeks after marrying former New Jersey Rose Rita Talty.
Daithi revealed of his wedding bash in Dingle: “The last memory I have is waltzing with my father-in-law at 6 o’clock in the morning while the owner of the pub was waltzing with his dog.”
Speaking to The Star, he also told of how he went through the memorised list of contestants with his wife before coming face to face with the girls yesterday.
“I never thought I’d be discussing other women in the bed with my wife at 7 o’clock in the morning and it being OK,” he laughed.
The contest airs at 8pm on Monday and Tuesday on RTE1, with breaks for the Nine O’Clock News.
But Daithi faces the unknown after that. He is still waiting to learn of his future with the station, with a meeting scheduled one week after the show.
He said: “On the Monday after Tralee I’m meeting them, so they told me they didn’t want to discuss anything before that, and that’s when I’ll know.”
