Boyzone crooner Keith Duffy
is offering his support to both Ronan and Yvonne Keating following their split. The couple tried to patch their relationship up after Ronan
had a fling with a backing dancer but they broke up a number of months ago.
Keith (37) said: “It’s upsetting for everybody. All you can do for a friend is to be there for both of them and that’s what we are. We are 100 per cent behind both of them.” Keith was unveiled yesterday as a new presenter for Dublin radio station 98fm
and will host a magazine-style show on Saturday afternoons.
He is excited about the new career move and is delighted he can finally do it as he has been working abroad in recent years and couldn’t commit to a live weekly show. The former Corrie star said: “I’ve never had an opportunity of being in the one place long enough to have a live show.
“I’ve been trying to base myself in Ireland this year, I’ve been home since September and I’ve got a little bit of routine in my life. It's something that I could do now so I thought I would. I'm in the business 20 years and most people know who I am. I just want to get on the radio and be myself.
"This is something I've never done before. I don't have to be uptight about my hair and make-up and stuff," he laughed. Keith was expected to hit the stage this weekend for the Coronation Street musical
Street of Dreams in Dublin. But is disappointed as unfortunately it has been postponed.
He said: "Of course, I was looking forward to it. I think they have just postponed it for another date. I was only a very small part of it, I was only coming out singing a song for three minutes at the end." The show has already received standing ovations in Manchester but yesterday a statement announced they want to make changes to the production.
A statement said: "Reckless Entertainment, the show's producers, are now keen to revisit the production and further develop ideas for the UK tour. As a result the existing dates have been re-arranged. New tour dates for Dublin, Belfast and Newcastle will be announced very soon. The producers would like to apologise to those who have already bought a ticket for the original tour dates." Fans can exchange the tickets for the new dates or get a refund.
