Russell Brand explodes at Graham Norton's Katy Quiz

I have come here to promote a film and you made my mum cry

Furious Russell Brand flew into a rage at Graham Norton for asking him about his flop marriage to Katy Perry during a TV chat.

The controversial comedian said he was out of order and had made his mum cry.

Brand was invited onto the BBC’s Graham Norton Show to plug his new film Rock Of Ages, but he threw a strop when Graham mentioned his ex Katy.

The couple married in October 2010, but Brand filed for divorce last December.

Norton (49) tried to calm him down claiming the issue “just came up”. But Brand blasted: “It did not come up mate. You brought it up.”

Then he bitched to fellow chat show guests Emily Blunt and Paloma Faith, SAYING : “He upped the stakes and stabbed me in the back.”

Russell (37) then launched into a further shock attack against the Corkman, claiming he had upset his mum, who was in the audience.

He stormed: “My mum is here. I was checking to see if my mum was alright. She got upset earlier when you dragged up my marriage. I saw her cry Graham. I have come here to promote a film and you made my mum cry.”

Brand claimed Norton should have warned him about his interview plans before the TV chat, screened last night.

A stunned Norton defended his questions, saying: “If I had not asked anything it would have been weird... Katy was on the show last week. That’s the only reason. I’m sorry, that should not have happened. Genuinely I’m sorry.”
