I have always had huge respect for Sinead O'Connor and I wish her all the best for 2012
Singer Sinead O'Connor apologised to Eurovision star Linda Martin after branding her a “granny” and falsely accusing her of “harassing” her on Twitter.
O’Connor was left red-faced when she discovered she had been duped by an imposter who set up a fake Twitter account in Linda’s name.
Linda contacted the gardai and the fake Twitter account, @LindaMartinRTE, was taken down yesterday afternoon. Sinead then issued a grovelling apology on Twitter after calling Linda a “past-it Irish singer” and a “granny” in one of her rants. “Sorry Linda Martin.. i thought it was u,” she tweeted. “Am a touchy little bitch. I’m sorry for hurt caused.”
She added: “But i don’t apologise for casting aspersions on the RTE make-up dept. Nor do i apologise for slapping the sometime 'Magdalene' mentality toward what is 'sanity' and what is 'Sinead O'Connor ' as well. But I do apologise for being a touchy little bitch and for hurting u. (sic)”
Linda last night said: "I'm delighted that it's all cleared up. I have always had huge respect for Sinead O'Connor and I wish her all the best for 2012. I would also like to invite Sinead to the Panto Jedward & The Beanstalk as my guest."
Sinead fumed when she received a tweet from €LindaMartinRTE saying: “I do be worried you've gone off the rails, fame does that, I'd know x.” She replied: “Linda i find that very insulting. Would u ever shove ur rte attitude to what is 'sanity' where it belongs (sic).”
The false Linda hit back: “Its not my marriage which ended in the blink of the eye, it’s no wonder your still single with that attitude Sinead.”
Sinead ranted about Linda being “Old granny past it Irish singer loves being 'famous' thinks sun shines out arse but it doesnt as her head is up there (sic).”
