Comic Russell Brand
is wanted by US police for criminal damage after hurling a mobile phone through a window, reports Emma Brankin.
New Orleans cops have issued an arrest warrant for the 36-year-old funnyman following his spat with a photographer on Monday.
Pop babe Katy Perry’s ex allegedly wrestled an iPhone out of snapper Timothy Jackson’s hand and threw it at the office of a nearby law firm.
Wild Russell was said to have acknowledged he broke the window and agreed to pay for it to be repaired. Sources in the US claimed: “In a police report Timothy claims he was with a group of photographers when he spotted the comedian and began taking pictures of him on his phone from his car.
“He alleged Russell snatched the phone and then threw it at an office.” Pictures of the dispute have since emerged showing the comic interrupting his date with new girlfriend Oriela Medellin Amieiro (25) to confront the photographer.
Brand has since made light of the altercation online. He joked on Twitter
: “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently. What I did was a tribute to his memory.” This is the latest in a series of run-ins with police including being arrested in 2010 after he allegedly attacked a photographer at Los Angeles Airport. He was released from custody after posting €14,000 bail.
