Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett, a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish, and has refused to leave his side ever since.

You will laugh when a cuddly teddy bear curses. You will!
Seth McFarlane, the creator and most of the cast of TV’s Family Guy is set to make his feature film directing debut this year with Ted.

The film tells the story of a kid who wished for a teddy bear companion and got what he wanted, but finds that the bear isn’t going anywhere as he moves into adult life. Mark Wahlberg plays the grown up John, who lives with the foul mouthed, stoner teddy bear, voiced (naturally) by MacFarlane.

The film also stars Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi and Family Guy alum Patrick Warburton and if you haven’t quite got a handle on what tone MacFarlane might be going for here – this red band trailer will probably give you a vivid idea…

MacFarlane has been hit and miss in recent years – Family Guy lacks seems less brazen since it was resurrected and American Dad never matched the characters of his first series. That said, we caught a few unfinished scenes of Ted late last year and it looks like a riotously crude piece of work – something which we know appeals to more people than will openly admit it.

Ted will hit cinemas in August.
