Massive, spoilery, mega
We’ve been getting teaser material for Ridley Scott’sPrometheus since late last year but as the June release date approaches, things are finally getting serious with a full International Launch trailer released yesterday.

This gives viewers the best idea yet of the shape the film is likely to take, and provides us with a glimpse of the kinds of enemies our heroes will face. Anyone who isn’t a fan of spoilers, best steer clear.

Well you can’t say it’s not intense.

Honestly, while it’s good to get a better idea of the characters (particularly Charlize Theron’s Vickers) one of the most exciting shots for me is the spacesuit helmet melting at 2.33 – which I’m going to naively assume means that we’re going to receive the R-rated cut Scott and Fox have been promising.

It also seems clear that the connections to the original Alien are not clear cut. The Facehugger type creatures are quite different in design and there’s still not the slightest flash of a xenomorph, with more focus on the Space Jockey race who have a cameo in holographic logs that seem to suggest they’re on the run from something.

Something else which marks Prometheus apart from the rest of the Alien saga is its scale – especially that no doubt climactic spacecraft crash which clearly creates connections to the downed ship in Alien.

Prometheus is in cinemas, in 3D, from the 1st of June and I am now, tentatively, excited.
