Riddick TV Spot - Back to the Dark
Vin Diesel can see you.
As Riddick gears up for a September release, the TV spots have already started to appear.

VinDiesel and director David Twohy made a strong first collaboration with Pitch Black all the way back in 2000 - the first feature to really establish the presence of the American actor who would go on to make several dozen Fast and Furious films.

Pitch Black was a small, spiky sci-fi flick with some interesting monsters and a play with light and dark that made for a decent creature feature. The 2004 follow up, Chroniclesof Riddick, was none of these things. And it wasn't fun neither, working too hard to establish a Lord of the Rings scale mythology around a character no one really cared that much for.

Thankfully director and star have brought things back to basics with the third film, making it planet bound and bringing in some evil nasties as well as bounty hunters and all kinds of eye-shine.

Check out the first TV spot for the film.

It's not entirely in evidence here but there's an huge amount of plot to go around in Riddick - including being hunted at the start by some dudes (and KateeSackoff) out for bounty, before heading off for revenge on whoever is trying to capture him. And the presence of Karl Urban in the cast means there will even be references to the bizarre plot machinations of the second movie. Let's just hope they keep them far in the background.

Riddick is in cinemas from the 4th of September 2013.
