Hotzone: McFadden and Keating duet; Jedward fans rejoice as Tara leaves and other news

Brian’s Ro so busy
Former Westlife singer BRIAN McFADDEN has revealed details of an unlikely partnership with another ex-Irish boyband member.

The 32-year-old Dubliner has teamed up with RONAN KEATING (35) to record a duet for his latest project. “Recorded a great duet with @ronanofficial (Ronan Keating) today. He came into studio and lit some #Fires,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

The singer, who let slip about the unusual pairing yesterday, also revealed earlier this week that he had teamed up with singer SINEAD O’CONNOR (45) for his most recent recording spurt. “In studio recording a duet with the amazing Sinead O’Connor. Her voice is incredible. Can’t wait for you to hear it,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

McFadden is due to marry DJ VOGUE WILLIAMS (26) on September 2 in Italy. Brian and his wife-to-be Vogue will celebrate their nuptials in a medieval castle just outside Florence. The pair are keen to keep their celebrations as low key as possible, with only family and friends attending. Then it’s back to the grindstone for hard-working Brian who will appear on new RTE show The Hit, where contestants battle it out to write a winning tune.

Noel not sporting
Noel Gallagher almost didn’t give brother Liam the go-ahead to sing Oasis hit Wonderwall at the Olympics closing ceremony. Noel (45) told XFM: “I was asked to do it... and in the end I was like, I’d rather watch it on the telly, but then Liam’s lot stepped in. I took to Friday night at 10pm before I said yes.”

Cunning Plan, Con
Conor Maynard has revealed he’s a huge Plan B fan but waited until he beat him to No 1 before buying his latest album. The 19-year-old plays the Undercover From Virgin Media stage at Virgin Media V Festival this weekend. Conor said: “The way Plan B works is incredible. He’s so clever at pulling music and acting together. I bought Ill Manors but waited until after my album came out in case I helped him get to No 1 instead.” The rascal.

Alicia Keys fires up new LP
Soul songstress Alicia Keys is back — and she’s on fire. The 31-year-old said: “I’m in the studio working away on my new album and it is called Girl On Fire — and that’s exactly how I feel.” The LP is due out later this year.

Tara’s Jed sad to say bye
JEDWARD fans celebrated as TARA REID jetted out of Ireland yesterday — after spending the last three weeks in the company of the twins. American Pie star Tara flew out of Dublin airport, revealing she was going to stay with a pal in Italy. “Bye bye Ireland I will miss you!” she tweeted. “At the airport in Dublin leaving now. I’m going to forte dei marmi in italy to visit my friend and get a tan.”

Some Jedward fans tweeted back their delight at the 36-year-old’s departure. “Bye bye Tara we don’t miss you,” tweeted one unimpressed fan. Another added: “Why does Tara think she’s like a Jedward triplet or something. No-one cares.”

Dublin festival confirms acts
The Hard Working Class Heroes festival has just announced the successful acts chosen to play at this year’s 10th edition. The three-day festival, which includes up-and-comers such as Twin Terrace and Leanne Harte, starts in Dublin city centre on October 4.

Speaking about the selection, director Angela Dorgan said: “It’s truly remarkable that here we are at 10 years of the festival and Irish Music continues to surprise us. The judges around the globe were incredibly impressed with the quality of the acts as well as the diversity. We are continuing our task of unearthing brand new acts.”

Nils Frahm to play Ireland
Classical music genius Nils Frahm is set to bring his ambient sounds to Ireland. The German classical pianist has been confirmed to play at the Dublin Unitarian Church in St Stephen’s Green on November 23. The composer, trained to play piano by Nahum Brodski – a student of the last scholar of Tchaikovsky — has picked up some famous followers along the way, including Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

WIN tickets to gig and after-party
Noel Gallagher is teaming up with Kasabian at Marlay Park next week — and Hot Zone has two tickets to give away, as well as two highly prized tickets to the Heineken after-party. The after-party features soulful Irish singer and songwriter Maverick Sabre, who performs live in The Academy next Thursday, straight after the much-anticipated Kasabian/Gallagher gig in Marlay Park. The Marlay Park concert also has The Cribs in the line-up.

After a totally rocking Snow Patrol after-party last month which saw band members take to the decks, Heineken announces a return to The Academy for another bash after Kasabian and Noel Gallagher’s show that evening. Maverick Sabre will do a full live show on the Academy stage — his first in Dublin since February. Entrance is €10, and music fans can keep an eye on the facebook.com/Heineken for more chances to win tickets to the Marlay Park show plus after-show tickets.
