Facebook Messenger adds Group Payments

Facebook Messenger adds Group Payments

Facebook has begun the roll out for a new Group Payments feature for the company’s Messenger service on Android devices and desktop, as revealed in a post on the Facebook Newsroom.

Messenger has supported Payments since 2015, but up until now person-to-person payments were only available between two people.

However, you can now send and receive money between groups by tapping the plus sign icon on the bottom left hand corner of a group conversation, and then tapping the $ payments icon.

Facebook suggests the feature could be used for things such as sharing a restaurant bill or contributing towards a gift.
