Internet meme to go under the hammer
How much is the inspiration of a meme worth?

A painting of Joseph Ducreux, which launched to internet fame in 2009 thanks to the start of the archaic rap meme, is estimated to be sold for between $5,000 and $7,000. The painting, known as Portrait de l'artiste sous les traits d'un moqueur, will be up for auction on September 21st

The original self-portrait by Joseph Ducreux was created in 1793 and is currently located in the Louvre in France. The painting that will go on sale was produced in 1894 as an homage to the artist's work. More information about the lot can be found on Brunk Auctions’ website.
