Eric Migicovsky, CEO of Pebble, says that the smartwatch is about to get an upgrade as the company prepares to unlock additional features and release a new wave of apps. Speaking at an event in New York, Migicovsky revealed that the Kickstarter gadget is equipped with "hidden functionalities" that will be accessible in the near future.
When questioned on the progress of the next generation of Pebble smartwatches, Migicovsky simply responded that there is still plenty of life in the current model, which raised over $10 million USD on Kickstarter.
"Right now we're focusing on the platform that's already on 190,000 wrists around the world," he said. "The hardware's already there, and has a lot of hidden functionalities that we haven't even unlocked yet."
Migicovsky also announced that there will be new third-party applications coming out for the device, with "tons on the way" already.
"We're a small company. We decided to put most of our effort into the framework and underlying structure that'll let other people build apps on top of it," he said.
Seems like now is the time to go out an grab a Pebble smartwatch if you've been curious about the device.
